Fruit Attraction: a week full of valuable encounters

What a week! Fruit Attraction has wrapped up for another year – an inspiring trade fair filled with meetings, conversations and new opportunities. We strengthened existing relationships, built new connections and shared valuable insights on sustainable trade and organic farming.

Organic Raingrown Avocados – Mexico follows Kenya’s strong season

After a strong season in Kenya, Mexico is continuing the Organic Raingrown Avocado programme. This week, the first container arrived from our partner Avova. This family business from Michoacán combines generations of craftsmanship with modern ecological practices – for sustainable avocados of consistent premium quality.

Avova: Organic Raingrown Avocados from the heart of Mexico

During his visit to Michoacán – the heart of Mexican avocado cultivation – Gert-Jan Lieffering, Eosta's Sustainable Sourcing Manager, once again saw why this region is so special. The province alone has more than 55,000 hectares of avocados, mostly small family farms. Michoacán’s unique location, with altitudes up to 2,900 metres and a cooler climate, allows for a long harvest season. Growers can leave fruit on the tree longer and harvest at different times, giving them great flexibility throughout the season.

Autumn favourite: Cold Mix Ginger–Lemon–Turmeric

Autumn is coming – the perfect time to put the Cold Mix on your shelves. Ginger, lemon and turmeric are popular with many consumers as natural immune system boosters. Together, they form a mix that is ideal for tea, shots and smoothies.

Water scarcity threatens cultivation – Eosta takes action

Water is one of the key priorities in Eosta's sustainability policy. An internal working group is developing a long-term approach and concrete improvements in the chain – from farm to fork. In an earlier campaign, the True Cost Ticker (2021), we already highlighted the benefits of organic farming in terms of soil, CO₂ and water use.

Together against food waste – from orchard to shelf

The United Nations has declared 29 September as International Day Against Food Waste. In light of this, many countries are drawing extra attention to the prevention of food waste in September and October, such as Waste-Free Week in the Netherlands, the Zu gut für die Tonne! campaign week in Germany, and various public campaigns in France.

First from Peru: Jucy Gold Oranges – particularly juicy and raingrown

Eosta introduces Jucy Gold Oranges: organic Valencia oranges from Peru with a  particularly high juice content of 45%. This makes them ideal for juicing – at home, in the catering industry and in juice machines in shops. The quality is excellent; Jucy Gold Oranges are now widely available.

From coffee cultivation to global export: visit to Kivinaki and Elisur

Last month, our colleagues Gert-Jan and Peke travelled to Peru for a series of visits to orange and ginger growers. The highlight was a visit to the Kivinaki cooperative, where they were welcomed as guests of honour. This project is of great significance to the farmers: it is the first time that their oranges are being exported to Europe as a fresh product under their own management.
