As winner of the True Price Award for our Organic Raingrown Avocado, we received a special prize: a Vegan Food Tour in Utrecht. A tasty reward - but above all an inspiring example of how sustainability, consumer experience and taste reinforce each other.

Plant-based and irresistibly delicious
Accompanied by guide and co-founder Daisy Scholte, we explored hidden culinary gems across the city. We tasted surprisingly delicious vegan snacks - from a silky pastel de nata without egg to a classic Dutch bitterball a bite-sized crispy croquette, usually filled with meat, but in this case plant-based – and nearly impossible to distinguish from the original.
The producer had been making the traditional version for years, but decided to go fully plant-based after blind taste tests showed that the vegan version performed just as well. And so he did.
Selling sustainability starts with the experience
The tour showed how sustainable choices can be positioned attractively, without compromising on taste or appearance. A valuable insight for anyone aiming to make the fresh produce shelf more sustainable: taste, storytelling and consumer experience make the difference.
More ways to experience plant-based together
Besides the walk in Utrecht, there are also options for a bicycle tour, a more extensive food & culture experience, as well as tours in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. A sustainable and team-friendly way to experience how delicious plant-based food can be.
Try it yourself

Carpe Diem has been a trusted partner for our organic grapes from South Africa for many years. This week, the first Early Sweet grapes will be harvested and shipped, so that — assuming normal transit times — they will be available before Christmas. Once again, the quality is excellent, with good size and high brix.
At the end of November, we visited ProPlum, our stone fruit grower in South Africa. Our visit during the harvest season was greatly appreciated by Paul Roos senior and junior and their team, and gave us the opportunity to see the fruit during the harvest season, just before it was shipped to the Netherlands.
Week 12 marks the start of the Tanzanian season of award-winning Organic Raingrown Avocados! Grown on 100% rainwater, these premium avocados contribute to a more sustainable future. Organic Raingrown is available year-round, with origins from Mexico, Tanzania, Brazil and Kenya.
