Eosta’s Organic Raingrown Avocado was named Bioproduct of the Year 2025 in the Netherlands, winning its category at the Bio Network Dinner on 5 June 2025. Chosen by a 50/50 mix of consumer votes and jury assessment, it is recognised for saving around 200 litres of drinking water per avocado through rain-only growing, supporting organic growers, and offering a Fairtrade Kenyan option that helps advance living wages for warehouse employees.

A Top 3 position at the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award (FLIA) 2025 — one of the industry’s leading international awards for innovation in the global fresh produce sector — for Eosta’s Organic Raingrown Avocado.

True Price Award 2025

Eosta’s Organic Raingrown Avocado won the inaugural True Price Award, recognising products that move true pricing forward through fairer, more transparent supply chains. Selected by an expert jury for its impact on water conservation, fair wages, and transparency, the avocado is grown with 100% rainwater—saving at least 800 litres of drinking water per kilo—and is part of the Nature & More transparency system.

Eco-Logic Climate Change Award

Eosta won the Eco-Logic Climate Change Award 2021 for its long-term partnership with South African organic citrus grower Groenheuwel. Announced during COP26, the award recognises climate-smart organic cultivation—using compost instead of artificial fertiliser to reduce emissions and increase carbon storage in soils—supported by major on-farm steps like solar power for the packhouse.

Eosta won the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE) 2018 in Vienna, a European Commission sustainability award. Eosta received the prize in “Developing country cooperation”, recognising its work with organic growers worldwide and its leadership in supply-chain transparency and True Cost Accounting through initiatives such as Nature & More and the True Cost of Food campaign, which make hidden environmental and social costs visible and actionable.

Eosta won an international Sustainable Food Award in June 2018 for Natural Branding—our laser-marking innovation that helps organic produce be sold without unnecessary plastic packaging. Recognised ahead of other European nominees, the award highlighted the real-world impact of the solution: adopted by major retailers across Europe and already saving millions of packaging units by making organic products clearly identifiable while keeping quality intact.

Eosta won the King William I Prize for Sustainable Entrepreneurship on 28 May 2018, selected from twelve nominated companies. The jury recognised Eosta’s pioneering work in True Cost Accounting—making environmental and social impacts visible in profit-and-loss thinking—alongside initiatives such as Nature & More, Save Our Soils, and Natural Branding to reduce unnecessary packaging.

Eosta won the Packaging Award 2018 in the Sustainability category for Natural Branding—laser-marking organic produce so it can be sold without plastic packaging or stickers. Approved by organic certifier SKAL, the technique uses no added substances, doesn’t affect taste or shelf life, and helps eliminate unnecessary packaging by making organic products clearly identifiable even when sold loose.

In 2017, Eosta’s founding director Volkert Engelsman was ranked #1 in the annual Dutch Sustainability Top-100 published by the newspaper Trouw. The jury recognised his pioneering leadership in sustainable food and farming, highlighting his work on True Cost Accounting—making the real environmental, social, and health costs of food visible and actionable.
