Eosta moves to sustainable new main office

On 3 September, Eosta (also known by consumer mark Nature & More) will permanently relocate to a new and sustainable business property in Waddinxveen, which consists of a head office and distribution centre. The logistics department moved there earlier, in July. With its numerous sustainable and circular properties and spacious set-up, this CSR leader has realised a workplace that throws the door wide open to the up-and-coming new economy.

Increasing droughts demand organic agriculture

Day Zero is threatening Cape Town, New Delhi and, a few years from now, Europe. Organic agriculture is water smart and climate smart and is therefore a necessary solution for the increasingly long droughts. Volkert Engelsman and South-African grape grower Eddie Redelinghuys explain why.

Eosta finalist in European sustainability award race

Brussels/Waddinxveen, 3 July – Organic produce specialist Eosta is a proud finalist of the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE). This prestigious prize will be awarded by the European Commission in November 2018. The competition was set up to highlight companies that combine innovation, competition and sustainability successfully.

Eosta wins international prize with Natural Branding

Last week Eosta landed a Sustainable Food Award for its ‘Natural Branding’ scheme, ahead of competition from Switzerland and the UK. Eosta has been applying Natural Branding laser marking on organic produce since 2016, in order to battle against environmental polluting plastic. So far Eosta has already saved 6.3 million plastic packaging units. Major retailers in Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands have embraced the technique and continue to do so.

Eosta, basée aux Pays-Bas, est mieux connu par les consommateurs européens sous le nom de sa marque commerciale Nature & More. La reine Máxima des Pays-Bas est présidente honoraire de la fondation. Les efforts d’Eosta dans le domaine de la comptabilité du coût réel ont été décisifs pour remporter cette élection, a affirmé Klaas Knot, président de la banque centrale des Pays-Bas et président du comité de décision.

South Africa has approximately 650 table grape producers, almost all of which are conventional growers. More than 150 of them, or 20%, attended a conference on May 10th on the opportunities for organic grape cultivation in South Africa. The conference, held in Stellenbosch, was organized by Eosta, a leading European importer and distributor of organic fruit and vegetables. ‘With conventional cultivation you are increasingly running into problems,’ said grape grower Easton Marsh from Lushof. ‘Annual droughts are becoming extreme, and public resistance to pesticides is growing. Organic cultivation can offer some solutions.‘

Eosta: ‘No VAT on organic food’

On behalf of 80,000 concerned citizens and 150 health food stores, Volkert Engelsman of Eosta / Nature & More handed over the petition “No VAT on organic” to the Dutch parliament today. “Consumers who buy organic products are saving the government and tax payers money. By lowering the VAT on organic, the government will create a more level playing field and encourage sustainable production” said Volkert Engelsman.

Eosta winner of Packaging Award 2018 … without packaging

Volkert Engelsman, CEO of major organics marketer Eosta and one of the driving forces behind the True Cost Accounting movement, has made an appeal to banks and investors through HRH Queen Máxima calling on the sector to move up a gear with more “inclusive finance”. By including the environmental and societal damage caused by large scale conventional farming in profit and loss accounts, the financial sector can make a huge impact towards saving our planet, argued Engelsman.
