Meet Avova: the family business behind our Mexican Organic Raingrown® avocados

Behind our Mexican Organic Raingrown® avocados is Avova, a family business in Michoacán that Eosta has been working with for many years.

Michoacán is the heart of Mexican avocado cultivation. Its high-altitude orchards and cooler climate allow fruit to stay on the trees longer and be harvested at the right moment. The fruit is known for its rich flavour and high oil content. Some of Avova’s trees are more than 50 years old and still bear avocados.

Growing with rain and care for nature

Avova’s organic avocados grow with natural rainfall, without drawing on scarce freshwater resources. The family works with compost, natural ground cover and other organic practices that help maintain healthy soils, prevent erosion and support biodiversity. The orchards also provide habitat for eagles, foxes, armadillos and deer.

People are part of the story too

Avova also invests in the people behind the fruit. Employees work under safe and hygienic conditions, receive fair wages and statutory benefits, and have access to training. By employing and purchasing locally, the family business also contributes to the regional economy.

Growing for the future

Avova is further expanding its organic production with the development of a new avocado orchard. The new production is being developed in close coordination with Eosta, supporting both future availability and the further growth of the Organic Raingrown® avocado programme in Europe.
