Quality and colour

Jucy Gold Oranges grow in the tropical Chanchamayo Valley. Due to the local climate, with relatively small temperature differences between day and night, the fruits are lighter in colour than we are used to seeing in oranges from Europe or South Africa. A larger difference between day and night temperatures usually results in a more intense orange colour. However, the lighter skin colour does not detract from the internal quality, which is excellent.

Biodiversity and Living Income

Jucy Gold Oranges are grown by small-scale farmers from the Kivinaki cooperative, who combine orange cultivation with crops such as mango, papaya, coconut and corn – an approach that promotes biodiversity on their land. The farming is organic and low-intensity, using compost and guano de isla (organic fertiliser from seabirds). This creates a robust agricultural system, and the income from orange cultivation provides growers with a living income.

Raingrown: a more sustainable citrus alternative

The organic Jucy Gold Oranges are grown entirely on natural rainfall, without any form of irrigation. This makes them a sustainable alternative to citrus fruits from regions where scarce drinking water is extracted from rivers and groundwater. In addition, organic cultivation also supports a better soil structure, which means that rainwater is retained and utilised more efficiently.

First volumes of excellent quality

When a new product is shipped for the first time, it is always exciting to see how the quality turns out. The first container of Jucy Gold Oranges from Peru arrived in excellent condition and is now on sale, with enthusiastic initial feedback from customers. We expect new shipments every week throughout the season.
