Nudging in a supermarket leads to a 21% (!) increase in sales of organic products

New research results show that sales of organic products increase by an average of 21% as a result of in-store floor interventions. In 11 stores in The Netherlands, nudging techniques were applied for 10 weeks to three high-turnover organic vegetables: sweet pointed peppers, cucumbers and vine tomatoes. Sales of all three increased significantly. Bionext wants structural deployment of interventions in supermarkets. The demand for organic food must be structurally stimulated, to grow to 15% by 2030, the ambition in the action plan "Growth of organic production and consumption" presented last year by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality.
