Together against food waste – from orchard to shelf

The United Nations has declared 29 September as International Day Against Food Waste. In light of this, many countries are drawing extra attention to the prevention of food waste in September and October, such as Waste-Free Week in the Netherlands, the Zu gut für die Tonne! campaign week in Germany, and various public campaigns in France.

In light of this, many countries are drawing extra attention to the prevention of food waste in September and October, such as Waste-Free Week in the Netherlands, the Zu gut für die Tonne! campaign week in Germany, and various public campaigns in France. 

Preventing food waste is an important principle for Eosta: 
→ We purchase all sizes of fruit from growers, including the less common ones.

→ Residual flows are given new uses, such as avocado oil, jams and chutneys. 
→ Collaboration with InstockMarket: this sustainable catering wholesaler rescues products that would otherwise be wasted and transforms them into delicious dishes with the help of chefs. 
→ In addition, surpluses find their way to market vendors. 

In this way, we ensure that as much fruit and vegetables as possible reach the consumer – instead of being wasted. We also see many initiatives to reduce waste in retail and health food shops. Together, we can further reduce food waste – from orchard to shelf.
