Eosta and HAS University Den Bosch join forces for Medjoul dates

Eosta and HAS University of Applied Sciences have started a collaboration in which four students are researching how Moroccan Medjoul dates can gain a larger market share. For six months, they will devote a significant part of their time to this practical research, which focuses on both the supply chain and the European market.

Eosta and HAS University of Applied Sciences have started a collaboration in which four students are researching how Moroccan Medjoul dates can gain a larger market share. For six months, they will devote a significant part of their time to this practical research, which focuses on both the supply chain and the European market.

Practical research

The students are combining knowledge from various fields of study, ranging from cultivation and logistics to marketing and consumer behaviour. Their assignment is to investigate how Moroccan Medjoul dates can be positioned more strongly in Europe and which factors contribute to sustainable growth in demand and sales.

Focus on market development

The collaboration with HAS University ties in with the growing cultivation of organic Medjoul dates in southern Morocco, where Eosta works with local partner Les Délices Majhoul. The region is rapidly developing into an important production area, partly thanks to investments in sustainable cultivation and infrastructure.

Sharing knowledge for sustainable growth

"We see great potential in this product," says Gert-Jan Lieffering of Eosta. "With the research conducted by the HAS students, we hope to gain more insight into marketing strategies and specific growth markets for this healthy fruit. This will enable us to strengthen the chain together – from grower to consumer."

The collaboration with the educational sector is in line with Eosta's ambition to connect knowledge, innovation and practice for more sustainable agriculture and fair trade.
