Organic pineapple extra sweet; perfect for summer promotions!

1920 ananasextrasweetduurzaamuitcostarica

Summer is the ideal time to highlight our fresh, organic pineapple extra sweet from Costa Rica to your customers. This exotic fruit, once called "pinecone" by European explorers because of its appearance, is carefully grown with respect for local flora and fauna.

Sustainable cultivation

Our grower Andres from Finca La Virgen in Costa Rica values sustainability highly. A significant part of his growing area is protected nature reserve. In an area of 74 hectares, located next to a river, native trees and plant species grow, resulting in a rich biodiversity.

Versatile in use

Our organic pineapple is not only delicious as a healthy snack, in salads or yogurt, but also delicious on the barbecue.

Delicious on the barbecue

Try the following tasty, easy preparation method:

  • Cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple and remove the skin.
  • Cut the pineapple, from top to bottom, into six segments and remove the hard core.
  • Thread the wedges onto skewers.
  • Sprinkle with a mixture of cane sugar and cinnamon.
  • Grill the pineapple all around until the sugar caramelises, turning frequently.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired for a delicious finish!

Ask your account manager about summer campaign opportunities. Enjoy your meal!

Limes

Moroccan limes provide breathing space in a tight organic lime market

Demand for organic fruit continues to grow, and organic limes are no exception. Their popularity is being driven partly by increasing demand for cocktails, mocktails and homemade lemonades, as well as their wider use in salads, curries and other dishes. Consumers are also increasingly choosing citrus grown without synthetic pesticides and without post-harvest fungicide treatment.

Kivinaki

Kivinaki ready for the new Organic Raingrown Oranges season

Ahead of the new organic orange season, our sourcing team visited Kivinaki in Peru. Over the past four years, we have built a successful export programme with this growers’ co-operative. During the visit, we worked together to prepare for the coming months.

Pineapple

Healthy soil makes organic pineapples more resilient

In Costa Rica, too, the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly apparent. Heavy rainfall, in particular, is making organic pineapple cultivation more challenging and requires growers to be adaptable.
