Eosta’s Organic Raingrown Avocado Wins True Price Award & top 3 position at FLIA 2025

Waddinxveen, 13 February 2025 - Eosta’s Organic Raingrown Avocado has been awarded the very first True Price Award and secured a top 3 position at the FLIA 2025. Two prestigious recognitions that highlight the impact of this sustainable innovation.

The True Price Award, presented in the Netherlands for the first time this year, honors products that contribute to closing the gap towards fair pricing, including all external costs. The jury evaluated submissions based on five criteria: accessibility, sustainability, exemplary function, transparency, and integrity.

Eosta’s approach, which explicitly aims for fair prices for both growers and consumers, was recognized as an inspiring example for other businesses and sectors. This aligns seamlessly with Eosta’s broader mission: to make the world healthier, fairer, and more organic.

FLIA 2025: a top 3 innovation in fresh produce

At Fruit Logistica 2025, visitors determined the winners of the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award (FLIA). The Organic Raingrown Avocado secured a top 3 ranking, highlighting the growing appreciation for truly sustainable fresh produce solutions.

100% rainwater: less water, more future

Growing avocados typically requires 800-1000 liters of water per kilo (around 5 avocados), with much of this water coming from precious drinking water reserves. The Organic Raingrown Avocado, however, is cultivated exclusively with natural rainfall, without irrigation from scarce freshwater sources.

To put the impact into perspective: the cultivation of avocados for Europe’s annual avocado consumption requires approximately 1,000 times the total yearly drinking water consumption of the Netherlands, with 17 million inhabitants. A staggering amount of water.

Eosta continues to pioneer sustainability

With these dual recognitions, Eosta once again reaffirms its commitment to making the food industry more transparent, fair, and sustainable. The Organic Raingrown Avocado demonstrates how innovation and nature can go hand in hand to create a positive impact.

From Morocco to Bard Valley: the journey of the Medjool date

The Medjool date has a remarkable story. Morocco is the historic birthplace of this beloved date. In 1919, production suffered a severe blow due to the outbreak of Bayoud disease. As a result, production fell dramatically and the Medjool date was on the verge of disappearing.

Kiwi

Overseas kiwi season gets underway

Golden kiwis are already available, with green kiwis to follow shortly. The golden kiwi season has started with Soreli from South Africa, followed by Zespri SunGold from New Zealand. In about three weeks’ time, we also expect the first green kiwis from Chile. Later in the season, volumes from Argentina will follow. The outlook for the new season is positive: quality and availability look good.
