| First to offer TÜV Nord certified Climate Neutral Products |
Eosta is proud to be the first food distributor in Europe to offer TÜV Nord certified Climate Neutral Products including Argentinean apples & pears, Egyptian oranges and Dutch vine tomatoes. The CO2 neutral claim is based on full life cycle carbon assessments of the products. All green house gas emissions (GHG) related to production, shipping, processing and distribution are offset with Soil & More carbon credits obtained from organic farming practices.
By making compost from green waste instead of letting it rot “Soil & More” contributes to methane gas avoidance. By using natural compost instead of mineral fertilizers, nitrous oxide is avoided and carbon sequestration takes place as a result of an increased humus content in the soil. Since methane gas and nitrous oxide are reported as being the largest emitters of green house gasses, Soil and More provides (organic) farmers around the world a powerful tool to develop genuine climate friendly agriculture. Obtaining carbon credits from methane gas avoidance is a revolutionary step in organic agriculture.
Soil and More composting practices, represent a serious reduction of GHG emissions in agricultural production. Furthermore, by using climate friendly PLA bio degradable packaging Eosta contributes additionally to GHG reduction. All remaining emissions as a result of transport, cold storage, packaging, distribution etc. are compensated with sector internal carbon credits obtained from organic farming practices. The money generated by the selling of these credits are a well deserved extra income for the organic farmer.
